This workshop explores why film photography and historical processes remain relevant in today’s digital world. Participants will learn the fundamentals of shooting film and how alternative materials can expand creative possibilities beyond traditional workflows. The session will introduce paper negatives, demonstrating how photographic paper can be used in a camera to create distinctive, high-contrast images.
The workshop will also explore digital negatives, where a digital photograph is printed onto transparency film and used to create prints through traditional processes. Demonstrations will show how digital negatives can be enlarged in a darkroom or used for contact printing methods such as cyanotypes. Participants will also learn the basics of the cyanotype process, including coating paper, exposing prints with UV light or sunlight, and developing the final image. By the end of the session, attendees will understand how analog and digital techniques can work together in contemporary photographic practice.
