Date: June 20, 2025
Time: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Location(s):
Have you ever taken a trip to a stunning location, only to come home and be disappointed with your images? Great landscape photography goes beyond beautiful scenery – it tells a story. To do this, you must first understand how composition, light and exposure all work together. Finally, how to tastefully edit your images to bring out all of the best qualities and give your viewer a visual treat. In this workshop, I will help you to understand how to create compelling narrative-driven images that evoke emotion and connect with your viewers. Together, we will explore how to use composition, light, weather, and timing to build mood and meaning into your shots. You’ll also develop a deeper understanding of visual storytelling techniques, from choosing the right focal point to post-processing with intention. Come find your creative voice and learn how to transform moments into meaningful stories.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Leah Horstman is an award-winning photographer renowned for her evocative nature and wildlife imagery. Born and raised in California, Leah’s passion for photography was sparked early by her father, a dedicated travel photographer. This early exposure led her to spend countless hours in darkrooms, honing her skills in composition and light.

In 2016, her photograph “Xmas on the Merced” won the Nature Conservancy’s Photo of the Year. Leah’s work has been recognized by National Geographic and featured esteemed venues like the San Diego Natural History Museum. Her image “Ice Climber” earned Best of Show at the San Diego International Photography Exhibition, and “Cowboys at Sunset” received the same honor at the Oklahoma State Fair. Currently based in Oklahoma, Leah continues to explore and capture the natural world around her. She is a proud ambassador for Cokin Filters and a member of ASMP.
