San Diego County Fair
What's New

The information on this page applies to the 2015 San Diego County Fair, which ended July 5. Information on the 2016 Fair will be posted in the spring of 2016.

New Food and Drink

There's always something new to eat at the San Diego County Fair. We're famous for deep-frying all sorts of foods, but we also have some awesome new treats that are healthier, too. Use the Fair Food Finder map for details and locations. [PDF]

Previous world's fair food inventions don't hold a candle to the potpourri of interesting concoctions at this year's Fair. To celebrate another year of gastronomic selections, you should probably leave your diet at home. You will find plenty of healthy options at the Fair, but why not take a break and enjoy sticky, gooey, sweet, spicy, and savory options along the Avenue and Concourse, and everywhere in between. Just like an old friend you visit every summer, there's the "tried-and-true" favorites such as Country Fair Cinnamon Rolls, Tasti-Chips. Australian Battered Potatoes, Gingerbread House and Rose's Mexican Food, to name just a few of the more than a hundred food locations across the entire Fairgrounds.

New Fair Fare for 2015

Sweet Pork Tacos and Burritos
Move over bacon, it is pork's time to shine! Pork prepared in all ways possible is gracing the menu boards at this year's San Diego County Fair. Palates will experience bold, savory and down-right daring tastes this year. Examples include BBQ Pig Skins (deep-fried pig skins tossed in BBQ seasoning), Pig Trough (three pounds of pig skins topped with pulled pork and cheese), Sweet Pork Tacos and Burritos, Chocolate-Covered Pork Rinds, Deep-Fried Pork Sandwich and Cajun Pork Rinds.

Wasabi DogCajun and Wasabi
Speaking of Cajun, get a load of spice with the Breaded Cajun Shrimp and Jalapeños, Cajun Shrimp Skewers, Cajun Hushpuppies (cornmeal deep fried with Cajun flavoring). We'll have some bacon delights too; Wasabi Bacon Bombs (spicy pork with wasabi, wrapped in dough and bacon and fried), Wasabi Bacon Fries (fries with wasabi, bacon, grilled onions and peppers), and Chicken-Fried Bacon (bacon in chicken-fried steak batter).

Shark TacoCheese and Seafood
Classics include Grilled Cheese Frito Crunch Sandwich and Grilled French Onion Soup. For the seafood lover there's the Shark Taco, and Po' Boy Fish and Shrimp Sandwiches (traditionally made on French baguette, Louisiana-style). We'll even have a Brussels Sprouts Sandwich (lightly toasted sprouts with hoisin, honey and Sriracha sauce) for those folks jumping on the little-leafy-green-cabbage bandwagon!

Corn Ice CreamSweets: Chocolate, Coffee, and...Corn?
For our beloved sweet tooths, there are the new Chocolate-Dipped Strawberry Waffle Bowl Sundae, Chocolate-Covered Gourmet Kettlecorn (the sweet and salty popcorn treat we already know, only drizzled in chocolate), and the S'mores-Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie Dessert (a layer of chocolate chip cookie dough, Hershey's bar, toasted marshmallows, graham crackers, and another layer of cookie dough. It's then baked and served à la mode and garnished in hot fudge). How about some Deep-Fried Starbucks (Starbucks whole coffee beans and chocolate chips in sweet pastry dough, deep fried, rolled in sugar and served with whipped cream), or a Caramel Coconut Samoa Donut? For a twist on some Fair favorites, give the Corn-Flavored Ice Cream-on-the-Cob a try, or for the rebel, the Fireball Donut will provide a spicy and cinnamony one-two punch!

Deep-Fried Slimfast Bar
Chicken Charlie, with his deep-fryer, is outdoing himself yet again. He will serve a Deep-Fried Slimfast Bar (a battered, deep-fried Slimfast Meal Bar) and a Deep-Fried Peanut Butter Pickle; think peanut butter pickle popper; a hollowed-out pickle filled with peanut butter and then deep fried.

Sriracha DogClassic Fair Standards
Burgers, corn dogs, and giant sandwiches are made new by combining several ingredients to make them current and special. The Cuban Fusion Burger is a seasoned beef patty, smoked ham and garnished with pickles, tomato and chipotle aioli. How about a corndog with a fiery twist – the Sriracha Corn Dog. Chicken Fries (chicken strips in a French fry shape) will also grace the menu. Regardless of the type of food you choose — between the more than 1,000 items on the food vendors' collective menus — eating your way through this year's Fair is your summertime rite of passage!
