Public Transportation

Take the COASTER train or BREEZE bus service to the Fair, and use the SPRINTER and San Diego Trolley lines to connect to the COASTER or BREEZE buses. Taking public transportation is convenient and fun, plus you'll save money on Fair parking fees and gas.

Once you have arrived at the Solana Beach COASTER station, catch the shuttle in front of the station to the Fair's West Gate. Present your train or bus ticket to the shuttle driver, and get on board! (Please note: You must have a train or bus ticket to board the Fair shuttles that leave from the Solana Beach station.)

The Fair Tripper. Your safe-and-reliable-designated-to-and-from-the Fair driver!

Buy the Fair Tripper combo package for a fun and convenient way to get to the Fair! The Fair Tripper is $15, and it includes round-trip fare on the COASTER and SPRINTER trains and BREEZE buses, a shuttle from the station to the Fair's West Gate, and adult admission to the Fair.

Regular adult admission alone is $14, so this is a deal! Trains and buses run all day and well into the evening, so you can enjoy all the great nighttime Fair festivals and entertainment.

The Fair Tripper is now on sale on the North County Transit District website. You also will be able to buy this package the day you come to the Fair at the COASTER vending machines. Although the Fair Tripper is valid for any age, those 62 or older save more buying Fair admission and COASTER fare separately. Kids 5 and younger ride the COASTER free and get free Fair admission.

Take the COASTER train

The COASTER train runs between Oceanside and San Diego's Santa Fe Depot, with a stop in nearby Solana Beach. Shuttles run between the Solana Beach station and the Fair's West Gate; present a bus or train ticket to the shuttle driver to board. Plan your trip with information on the NCTD website.

Take the BREEZE bus

NCTD operates a Special Route 408 during the Fair from the Escondido Transit Center directly to the Fair's West Gate. Also, Route 101 runs from Oceanside to La Jolla. Passengers can get off the 101 across from the Solana Beach train station and transfer to the Fair shuttle, which leaves from the front of the train station (you must show your BREEZE ticket to ride the Fair shuttle). Get more information on BREEZE bus routes.

Before you board:

Certain items may not be brought into the Fair, and may be confiscated at the gate. Because you will not be able to return these items to your vehicle, please read our Can I Bring... page before departing.

Other public transportation to the Fair

The Solana Beach train station also is served by Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner, which runs between San Diego and Los Angeles (San Diego to San Luis Obispo on some trains). Please see Amtrak's website.
