San Diego County Fair

The information on this page applies to the 2015 San Diego County Fair, which ended July 5. Information on the 2016 Fair will be posted in the spring of 2016.

Public Transportation

Take the COASTER train or BREEZE bus service to the Fair, and use the SPRINTER and San Diego Trolley lines to connect to the COASTER or BREEZE buses.

Once you have arrived at the Solana Beach COASTER station, catch the shuttle in front of the station to the Fair's West Gate. Present your train or bus ticket to the shuttle driver. Please note: You must have a valid Amtrak ticket or North County Transit District ticket or pass to board the shuttle.

Fair Tripper combo package

During the Fair, buy the Fair Tripper combo package, which includes round-trip fare on the COASTER and SPRINTER trains and BREEZE buses, a shuttle from the station to the Fair's West Gate, and adult admission to the Fair.

• The Fair Tripper ticket is $16, a $26 value.
• Patrons who wish to use the Fair shuttle (to and from the Solana Beach station) must show the drive a valid Amtrak or NCTD ticket/pass.
• No drinking or open alcohol containers allowed on NCTD buses and trains.
• Buy this package online or the day you come to the Fair at COASTER vending machines.
• Although the Fair Tripper is valid for any age, those 62 or older save more buying Fair admission and COASTER fare separately. Kids 5 and younger ride the COASTER free and get free Fair admission.

Trains and buses run all day and well into the evening, so you can enjoy all the great nighttime Fair festivals and entertainment.

How-To Public Transportation Guide

Information on discount parking and shuttles from Horsepark, MiraCosta College, or Torrey Pines High School is on the parking page.

Take public transportation, get big discounts

Present a same-day transit ticket (or monthly pass) at the West Gate ticket window, and receive a discount on $3.50 off Fair adult, senior or child admission.

Discount admission cannot be combined with any other admission discount; one discount per passenger ticket or pass (Amtrak, NCTD or MTS transit tickets); discount is available only at the Fair's West Gate.

Take the COASTER train

The COASTER train runs between Oceanside and San Diego's Santa Fe Depot, with a stop in nearby Solana Beach. Shuttles run between the Solana Beach station and the Fair's West Gate; you must present a bus or train ticket to the shuttle driver to board. Plan your trip with information on the NCTD website.

Take the BREEZE bus

NCTD operates a Special Route 408 during the Fair from the Escondido Transit Center directly to the Fair's West Gate. Also, Route 101 runs from Oceanside to La Jolla. Passengers can get off the 101 across from the Solana Beach train station and transfer to the Fair shuttle, which leaves from the front of the train station (you must show your BREEZE ticket to ride the Fair shuttle). Get more information on BREEZE bus routes.

Before you board:

Certain items may not be brought into the Fair, and may be confiscated at the gate. Because you will not be able to return these items to your vehicle, please read our Can I Bring... page before departing.

Other public transportation to the Fair

The Solana Beach train station also is served by Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner, which runs between San Diego and Los Angeles (San Diego to San Luis Obispo on some trains). Please see Amtrak's website.
