DEL MAR, CA — Bands that would like to enter the 3rd annual Musicpalooza contest at the San Diego County Fair, presented by Albertsons/Sav-on, must do so by Friday, April 8. Bands can apply online at www.sdfair.com/musicpalooza. Applicants must be 21 years of age and older.
Musicpalooza is a search for the best musical talent in the United States. This year, Musicpalooza will be staged as a battle of the bands, with a grand prize of $5,000. The singers division of this contest has broken off into a new contest, Singer-Songwriter, which also offers a $5,000 first prize. The deadline for that contest is May 13.

Pre-Fair Musicpalooza auditions will be held in May, dates to be determined at the Belly Up in Solana Beach. The preliminary round will take place Friday, June 10, from 3 to 8 p.m. on the Coors Light Rock On Stage. The semifinals will take place on the same stage, Friday, June 17, from 3 to 7:30 p.m. The finals will be held Friday, June 24, from 3 to 6 p.m. on the Paddock Stage.
Along with the two $5,000 first-prize awards in both competitions, second- and third-place finsihers will be awarded $2,500 and $1,000.
