About this exhibit

With more than $25,000 in prizes and awards, this exhibit is one of the largest competitive photographic shows on the West Coast.

A juried show, it is open to professionals and amateurs throughout the world. About one-third of the images entered are chosen for display.


2016 Dates, Times, Location

Exhibit Dates: Friday, June 3 through Monday, July 4
(The Fair is closed Mondays except July 4, and the first two Tuesdays)
Exhibit Hours: Fair opening to 10:00PM, Sundays and Tuesdays-Thursdays; 11:00PM, Fridays-
Saturdays; 11:00PM, July 4.
Exhibit Location: East Grandstand, 2nd Floor

Photography workshopLearn how to take better photos at free weekend workshops for photographers of all levels, with topics such as "Mastery of Macro Photography," "Confessions of a Pet Photographer," and "Secrets of Successful Travel Photography."

NEW for 2016! The Exhibition of Photography will feature a display of cameras and assorted camera accessories, from vintage bellows to more modern digital equipment.

Photography judgeFind out how photos are judged at the Judges Roundtable. Learn what elements judges look for when they are judging thousands of photos.

What's your favorite? After you've seen the photos on display, vote for the one you like best for the "People's Choice" award, a coveted bit of recognition by the photographers who enter.




2016 Photo Shootout Contests

Photo Shootout Contest Dates: Saturdays, June 18 and 25. Participants bring their cameras or cell phones and have three hours to capture a photo with a special "theme." Afterward, all participants vote for their favorite photos, with prizes awarded to the top three.

Congratulations to Mary Gilmer of Spring Valley, first place in the June 18 Photo Shootout; and Sheila Newbery of Escondido, first place in the June 25 Photo Shootout.
