About This Exhibit

This exhibit features rare and unique gems, mineral specimens, fossils and handcrafted jewelry by professional and non-professional jewelers.

San Diego County is home to many collectors and enthusiasts who share their collections, which include museum-quality and unique specimens.

The exhibit also includes many demonstrations and special exhibits. Please scroll down the page for details.

 

2016 Dates, Times, Location

Exhibit Dates: Friday, June 3 through Monday, July 4
(The Fair is closed Mondays except July 4, and the first two Tuesdays)

Exhibit Hours: Fair opening to 10:00PM, Sundays and Tuesdays-Thursdays; 11:00PM, Fridays-
Saturdays; 11:00PM, July 4.

Exhibit Location: South Mission Tower

2016 Exhibit Attractions and Activities

Fluorescent mineralsNEW jewelry categories for 2016 – Jewelry artisans will show their creativity in two Fair theme-related jewelry categories, Steampunk and Alice in Wonderland. Also new this year is CAD (Computer Aided Design) jewelry, where computers help artisans create realistic renderings of their designs.

Special Exhibit: Fluorescent Mineral Room – See mineral specimens that glow in amazing colors under black light.

Daily Demonstrations – Daily demonstrations include gem faceting, jewelry making, rock carving, sphere making or other crafts. At least one craft will be demonstrated every day of the Fair.

FossilFree Gem ID, weekends – Bring your "mystery stones" to the Fair on weekends, and members of the Gemological Society of San Diego will identify it for you. Identification does not include appraisal of its value.
