San Diego County Fair: Contests & Competitive Exhibits

KPRI presents

Singer/Songwriter

Singer/songwriters are among our most admired performers, probably because they can really express the emotions in the songs they wrote themselves. Our Singer/Songwriter competition honors the best performance of original music by a solo artist. So if you see yourself as the next Johnny Cash, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell or Norah Jones, be sure to enter!

Before you apply, read the Rules and Regulations and the FAQs governing this contest. To update an application previously submitted, use this form.

Past Winners Speak

Josh Damigo won the 2012 Singer/Songwriter contest. He said: "The songwriter competition was one of my favorite events that I've played. Everyone supported each other, and it was a great day for San Diego music! Definitely worth checking out if you're ready to play your songs for a great crowd. Since then, I've signed to Random Records, released a new album, I Will Be There, and my new music video was just released in November."

Tolan Shaw won the 2011 Singer/Songwriter title. He said: "The SD County Fair Singer/Songwriter contest is an amazing opportunity and a blessing for local talent. You get a chance to show off your art to industry professionals, meet like-minded performers and network with top-notch songwriters from around the community. And of course, there is the chance of winning some amazing prizes that can hugely help with the cost of running your music business (recording, music videos, promotion, etc)."
