Trevor McSpadden

Trevor McSpadden likes his honky tonk music straight-up. His songwriting rejuvenates the eternal verities of country & western: love, loss, and liquor. Like the best country music, McSpadden's originals explore everyday human foibles and the ways men and women seem to fail themselves and each other, all framed by clean, spare arrangements that serve the narrative. A native of Central Texas, Trevor spent years performing in the dance halls south of Austin before heading north to front several groups in Chicago. Most prominently, he was lead singer for The Hoyle Brothers, the city's most enduring country band, which brought the swing of a Texas roadhouse to Windy City clubs. Now working out of Southern California, McSpadden has coined his sound "western automatic music." "By 'automatic' I mean 'accessible'," he explains. "It's pure, it's simple, and it'll speak to you so long as you have your ears on." So, listen up, and see if you don't hear a healthy shot of the truth behind the twang. Find out more on his website.
