horse racingSurfside Race Place, located on the northeast corner of the Fairgrounds, is California’s largest and most luxurious off-track wagering facility. Watch and wager on horse racing Wednesday through Sundays at Surfside Race Place, and Thursday through Sunday at the Paddock Tavern. During the San Diego County Fair, admission to Surfside is free with Fair admission. Just show your Fair hand stamp at the facility for admission.

Surfside features more than 1,000 TVs, dining, lunch specials, a Las Vegas-style race book, a Sports Lounge, and more.

Belmont Stakes Horse Race

Get your adrenaline pumping by watching live horse racing at the Belmont Stakes. Fairgoers will have the chance to watch and wager on the last leg of the famed Triple Crown, the $1,500,000 Belmont Stakes. This state-of-the-art facility with racing via satellite will offer day and night racing. Admission to Surfside Race Place is included with Fair admission.

The Belmont Stakes is a famous thoroughbred horse race run at Belmont Park in New York. It is the third leg of the Triple Crown, a series of three races exclusively for 3-year-old thoroughbreds. The initial race of this series is arguably the most famous: The Kentucky Derby. Then comes the Preakness Stakes, followed by the Belmont Stakes, the longest race in the series at one and one-half miles.
