Reading Certificates

Students 12 and younger who read 10 books can complete the Reading Certificate and receive free admission to the Fair! Use links below for printable certificates in Spanish or English.

One-Day Contests

The San Diego County Fair has many one-day contests. Some are for cooks, some are for crafters and some are for people who just like to have fun. There are one-day contests for kids, teens, adults, and all ages. For more information, see the Contests section of our website.

Kids' Day

Fairgoers 12-years and younger are admitted free every Tuesday. Kids' Days feature entertainment and contests that are loads of fun for our youngest guests. Look for updated information on the Kids' Day page of this website.

Clubs and Educational Organizations

There are many ways to participate in the Fair whether you want to be an exhibitor, participate in a one-day contest, or take a field trip to the Fair.

4-H Clubs

There are multiple educational programs and opportunities to showcase 4-H projects!

Girl Scouts

There are many activities at the Fair to help Girl Scouts complete requirements toward a badge or Fair Fun Patch.

For Flag Raising opportunities, visit the Flag Raising entry page to learn how your troop can raise the flag at the San Diego County Fair opening ceremony and earn a Fair Fun Patch.

School Tours

This free program is open to students K-3 and takes place April and May. Fair staff will visit your school and educate students using animals, games, puzzles and stories!

Plant Grow Eat Program

Incorporate agriculture into your curriculum! This free program starts in the Spring with Fair staff delivering materials to your classroom for students to grow their own plants. In June, students take a field trip to the Fair and bring their plant, learn more about agriculture and receive ribbons for their hard work! Open to schools in session when the Fair is open. Program dates: June 10-12, 17-19, 23-26, and 30

Don Diego Scholarship

Provides college scholarships to outstanding San Diego County high school seniors who have participated in the San Diego County Fair or other Del Mar Fairgrounds events. For information on the Don Diego Scholarship, visit

Field Trip Program

Schools and clubs are invited to take a free self-guided field trip to the Fair. A fun program will be available to participants featuring a series of educational presentations and new hands-on activities provided by My American Farm.

Showcase a classroom project and have it displayed at the Fair. Individuals, groups, and classrooms are encouraged to enter. Entry categories include: art, graphic design, photography, general technology, community service projects, crafts, missions, writing, educational projects, and much more.
