Pursuant to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines Section 15203, notice is hereby given that the Draft EIR for the 2008 Master Plan at the Del Mar Fairgrounds is available for public review during the comment period (October 9, 2009 – January 8, 2010).
The 22nd DAA has prepared a Draft EIR to analyze the proposed project’s potential impacts on the environment and propose mitigation measures for identified potentially significant impacts that will offset or otherwise reduce or avoid those environmental impacts.
The Draft EIR examines the potential impacts generated by the proposed project in relation to the following Environmental Analysis Checklist categories: Aesthetics, Agricultural Resources, Air Quality, Biological Resources, Cultural Resources, Geology and Soils, Hazards and Hazardous Materials, Population and Housing, Hydrology and Water Quality, Land Use, Mineral Resources, Noise, Public Services and Utilities, Recreation, Traffic and Circulation, and Greenhouse Gases.
The Fairgrounds is listed as a hazardous waste site under Government Code Section 65962.5; however, the proposed project would not create a significant hazard to the public or the environment. The proposed project would result in the following significant unavoidable adverse impacts: traffic, air quality, public services and utilities, noise, and greenhouse gases.
The purpose of this notice is to inform local residents, institutions, and other interested parties about the availability of the Draft EIR during the public comment period (October 9, 2009 – January 8, 2010). Written comments on the Draft EIR must be submitted no later than January 8, 2010, to Dustin Fuller, Sr. Environmental Planner, 22nd District Agricultural Association, Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Boulevard, Del Mar, CA 92014-2216.
Hardcopies of the Draft EIR are available for public review from October 9, 2009 to January 8, 2010 at the following locations:
