Special Days: Opening Day

Opening Day at San Diego County Fair Plan to be at the Fair on Friday, June 11, when we open the gates for the 2010 season! We will have a special Opening Ceremony about 10:00AM featuring a marching band, the raising of our national flag, the singing of the National Anthem, many entertainers who will amuse and delight you while you wait for the Fair to open, and more surprises. The gates will open at 11:00AM.

Among the activities on Opening Day:

My Prize Pak, presented by 7-Eleven, is a reusable shopping bag packed with coupons, samples, two-for-one offers and more, valued at $500.00! Also included in the bag is a chance to win a trip for four to the Calgary Stampede, July 9-18, 2010, in Alberta, Canada. Get one as you enter the gate, while supplies last.

In the Tour of Tastes Theme Exhibit, we will have some fabulous displays and information about food — how it's grown, cooked, shared and more!

The Purina Incredible Dog Challenge will take place in the Chevrolet Del Mar Arena. The top canine athletes in the West will compete in dog diving, pole weaving and more! Please see the Chevrolet Del Mar Arena listings for details.

Sammy Hagar and The Wabos show opens our Toyota Summer Concert Series on the Heineken Grandstand Stage. Sammy is a great opener for our Fair's "Taste The Fun" theme this year. Not only is he a talented musician, but he also is a successful restauranteur, with eateries in Cabo San Lucas and Las Vegas. Please see the Summer Concert Series listings for details.
