Featured Performers

Each year, the San Diego County Fair brings back popular performers, and introduces exciting new shows, too. All of these shows are free with Fair admission. Please check back, because we will be adding to this list until early June.

Butter Sculpture NEW! Butter Sculptor Jim Victor
Butter sculpting is a favorite attraction at fairs throughout the United States. To celebrate our "Taste The Fun" theme, we have the country's leading butter sculptor, Jim Victor from Pennsylvania. Jim is a sculptor with more than 30 years experience as an artist and teacher. His sculptures (using traditional materials) are also featured in private and public collections, including the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library.

Among his many commissions are various food sculptures, including butter, chocolate, vegetable and cheese sculptures for many fairs, state and county. He has traveled all over the United States and even to China to delight viewers with his unique creations.

You can see more on Jim's Web site www.jimvictor.com/

Every day in the Theme Exhibit
Bandaloni NEW! Bandaloni
Bandaloni is an amazing one-man band, combining this long-time tradition and infusing it with a modern makeover. Bandaloni's one-man band includes guitar, harmonica, a kick drum, high-hat, snare drum, tambourine, plus singing and even live harmonies — all performed at the same time!

He draws from a century-deep well of classic songs, spanning all musical genres with an emphasis on rock 'n' roll and country. The show also involves lots of audience participation, humor and astounding novelty tricks executed on his custom-made guitar and drum rig.

You can see more on Bandaloni's Web site www.bandaloni.com

Camel Show Camel Dairy
Gil and Nancy Riegler, who run the Oasis Camel Dairy near Ramona, will show how they milk camels and turn that milk into incredible soap. You will learn more about camels than you ever imagined, and you will find out that well-treated camels are sweet and loveable animals.

Check out Nancy's witty blog at http://camelmilkextremechallenge.blogspot.com and read all about their planned Camel Milk Extreme Challenge, when they will live for two weeks on camel's milk, water and dates, just like nomads have done for centuries! Vote for their "last meal," which will be a repast of Fair Food on "Fat Tuesday," June 15.

The Fair's favorite Theme Performers, Stu and Kazoo, transform themselves every year. As Keystone Kops, movie producers, masked comic book heroes or golfers, they come ready to lead the fun with whatever theme the Fair has. This year, for Taste the Fun, they will be Chef Bon Appetite and Master Waiter Reggie Reginald III. Look for them on their moving kitchen/restaurant!

Rock-it the Robot Rock-it the Robot
With skin that changes color and computers in his brain and chest, nine-foot-tall Rock-It the Robot greets Fair visitors every day as the gates open, and then throughout the Fairgrounds. Rock-It dances to his own music, which is pumped plentifully from an on-board music system. And when the beats die down, he'll talk his way into the crowds' heart with an amazing selection of voices, sounds and effects.
Dixie Hasslers Dixie Hasslers
Bart Hazlett’s Dixie Hasslers Jazz Band started playing for the patrons of the San Diego County Fair in 1953. Here they are 57 years later, still pumping out America’s favorite music — Dixieland Jazz — to welcome Fairgoers as they enter the O'Brien Gate. The world has changed in many ways since the Hasslers made their debut, but they still set the happy welcoming tone for every year’s Fair, and they hope to continue this tradition at long as they can!

Every day, Noon-2:30PM, O'Brien Stage
Doggie Show and Calamity Jo Doggies of the Wild West and Calamity Jo
Marshal Rowdy Yo and his silly sidekick Calamity Jo put on a show of fun and comedy with their adorable cast of Pooches from the Prairie, some of which are Miss Prissy, the world's only pup to balance on one paw; Precious, famous for her jump-roping skills; and the star of the show, Hollywood High Diving Champion, Paco! All doggies in the show are rescued from animal shelters and are lovingly trained by Gary Noel (Marshal Rowdy Yo).

Calamity Jo performs a comedy magic show, including card tricks, losing and finding children's shoes, making an American flag from scarves and many more tricks that will delight kids of any age.
